A good Public Adjuster should do the following:

Meet with you immediately after your loss to review your insurance policy, advise you of the coverages available , and report your claim to your insurance company.

They should assist you with securing emergency services such as pump out, roof and exterior board ups, electrical repair and other safety steps to be sure you have met your "Obligation" to protect your property from further damage. Your insurance will pay for these services but it's up to you to get them done. 

It is now the responsibility of your Public Adjuster to estimate your damages. This may include damage to structures, their contents and furnishings as well as additional expenses incurred as a result of your inability to use the property as you did. Again, these losses are all covered under your policy but they will not get paid, unless you claim them. 

Your Public Adjuster will use their experience to evaluate all of your damage, from fire, wind, water, smoke, mold etc. That's why, EXPERIENCE is so important.

They will meet with your insurance company experts to present these detailed estimates of damage to them, negotiating in strength. armed with a comprehensive knowledge of your insurance contract, the amount of damages and the adequate costs to repair or replace them. Once your claim is settled to your satisfaction, they will assist you in executing the proper documents and expedite all payments you are to receive. Only when all this is done, will you owe your Public Adjuster a fee. And if you hired the "Right One", you will be HAPPY to pay that fee.
